Categorical Wall Crossing in 2d QFT and Beyond

Davis Spring School, May 10-15 2020

We are pleased to announce a six-day school on categorical wall crossing, led by

Principal mentor: Greg Moore (Rutgers)

Supporting mentors: Will Donovan (Tsinghua), Andrew Neitzke (Yale), Fei Yan (Rutgers)

Organizing committee: Roger Casals, Tudor Dimofte, and Harold Williams (UC Davis/QMAP), and Philsang Yoo (Yale).

The school will feature a series of lectures on the physical work Algebra of the Infrared by Gaiotto-Moore-Witten, focusing on categorical structures in massive 2d N=(2,2) quantum field theory, and the categorification of the Cecotti-Vafa wall crossing formula. This will be complemented by lectures and discussions on the mathematical framework of Kapranov-Kontsevich-Soibelman, based on perverse sheaves and schobers; and potential connections and generalizations to wall crossing in 4d N=2 theories.

Lectures will be given both by mentors and by selected participants.

A principal aim of the school is to connect physical and mathematical perspectives on categorical wall crossing.

In addition to lectures, there will be guided discussions and problem sessions.


The target audience is graduate students (both from math and physics) and postdocs. We hope to be able to provide shared local accommodation for graduate students.
